Hamilton International Airport, despite its name, generally caters for only domestic flights. There are regular flights to Auckland and Wellington as well as other New Zealand destinations.The airport is about 25km out of town, so allow plenty of time for airport transfers. A taxi or shuttle bus service is available but a rental car might be cheaper.
During the winter the airport can be closed by fog in the morning.
